True Love and Fox Tails Chapter 1

This is a SasuNaru story. This means yaoi. There isn't any at the moment but there will be in later chapters. I promise.  If you don't like it don't read it please. I don't own the characters in this story except Crystal. I do own the story however so don't use it without my permission. I got this idea from a continuous dream I've been having and have changed it a little bit. If you'd like to know what the original dream was send me a note.

“Alright gang. I believe that's it for the day.”

“But Kakashi-sensei, what are we going to do about missions? Ever since Crystal...” Sakura couldn't bring herself to say the last word.

Crystal, a beautiful and semi-talented girl, had died on one of Team 7's recent missions. It had been a sneak attack on the enemy's part as they hadn't been told ninjas would be trying to stop them from completing the mission. Crystal had realized slightly before the others and had thrown herself in the path of the enemy ninja to protect their client. This resulted in the loss of her life however. The mission had been a success but the whole team was feeling the loss now. Even Sasuke. He didn't say it but the rest of the squad could see the slight pain in his eyes at losing a comrade before his very eyes. Kakashi looked at his team sadly and was about to say something when they heard a voice that made everyone turn.

“Well. There you are Team 7. I'm sure you all know why I'm here as Kakashi would have explained it.” Team 7 looked from Lady Tsunade to Kakashi-sensei and back again, blank looks on their faces. “Kakashi, don't tell me you forgot to tell them.”

“My bad.” Kakashi rubbed the back of his head as the other three glared at him.

It was at this moment that Sasuke saw something that the others didn't. He saw the tiniest amount of movement from behind Lady Tsunade out of the corner of his eye. This caught his attention and got him to look. He couldn't see very well but he could tell that it was a person, and it didn't look like Shizune. Sasuke looked curiously. Tsunade caught his gaze then and, looking to see what he was staring at, started to chuckle softly.

“Well, since Kakashi forgot to I'll explain. I'm here to assign your squad a new member. Now, you'll have to be nice to them as they have just had a huge loss themselves. Greater than yours actually.”

“Why is that Lady Tsunade?” Sakura asked innocently

“Well, they lost their whole squad. I won't go into details but it's safe to say that the whole squad left, but only one came back.”

Sakura gasped. “That's horrible.”

Tsunade nodded, agreeing. “Well, everybody. Meet Naruto. Naruto, this is your new squad.” Tsunade moved to the side, revealing a blond boy with sapphire blue eyes.

Naruto nodded. “Nice to meet you.” Naruto had a huge grin on his face, but it was easy to tell from his eyes that he didn't feel the same way on the inside right now.

“Well, I'll leave you all to get acquainted.” Tsunade then walked away.

It was silent for a few minutes, the silence practically curling around them and suffocating them like a cloud of poison gas. Naruto didn't want to talk at the moment, thinking about his former team mates, and Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi didn't know what to say.

“Well, I was going to dismiss you but I've decided to give the three of you a mission instead.” Kakashi finally said, a smile clearly seen through his mask.

The three of them looked up at Kakashi. “What is it Kakashi-sensei?” Sakura asked.

“Your mission is to get to know each other better.”

“But Kakashi.....” Sakura started, but Kakashi had already left. “*sigh* Kakashi-sensei.” Sakura groaned.

Sakura turned to look at the two boys. Sasuke didn't seem to care and Naruto was just looking down, not even seeming to realize that they had been left alone together. Sakura took things into her own hands.

“So, Naruto. What do you like to do?”

Naruto glanced up, looking at her with a sort of surprised look on his face. Naruto didn't answer, not really wanting to talk about that as he had always spent his time with his team mates. Sasuke had also looked towards them at hearing this question, wondering if he could learn something about their new team mate. When Naruto didn't speak Sakura guessed that she might have hit a bit of a nerve.

“Ok, do you have any goals?” Naruto glanced at her and nodded his head. “Well, what are they?”

“Well, my goal is to become Hokage someday.” Naruto replied, speaking for the first time since Tsunade had left

“Really? That's a cool goal.”

Sasuke got irritated, wanting to know a question that he knew Sakura would most likely not ask. “What happened to your squad?”

“Sasuke!” Sakura scolded, although secretly she wanted to know this as well.

Naruto looked at the two of them, biting his lip. He knew how much they wanted to know this, and their mission was his own mission as well. If they were to get to know each other he would have to open up and tell them something that he hadn't even told Lady Tsunade. It was a bit frightening but Naruto thought it would be worth it if it got him some new friends who would be able to help him deal with the pain of losing his old ones.

“Well, I don't know exactly what happened. We went on our mission, like normal. Our mission was to secure a scroll and bring it back. Lady Tsunade hadn't been told that there would be opposing ninja also trying to get the scroll however, making it a mission that was too high ranked for my squad. We had gotten the scroll and were about to head back when we were attacked. I was the weakest in our squad, but also the fastest so I was given the scroll and told to run for it. I didn't want to of course but I tried to listen to my squad leader. Before I got very far however I was knocked unconscious from behind. When I woke up.” At this Naruto paused for a second, but continued, “ my team mates were dead all around me, as were the enemy ninjas. The blood of the enemy ninjas and my own squad covered my body, and the whole clearing reeked of the smell of death and decay. I couldn't stand the stench, but I grabbed the bodies of my squad and ran in the direction of the village. They were buried shortly after I got back.” Naruto closed his eyes, trying not to cry at the memory.

Sasuke and Sakura looked at Naruto, both of them not believing what they had heard. “So, what about the scroll? Did they get it?” Sasuke asked, curious.

Naruto looked at him. “You know, I never checked.” He then put his hand in his pocket where he had put the scroll. “Well, I'll be.” Naruto cried out with surprise as he pulled out the very scroll that his squad had been sent to retrieve on it's last mission.

Sakura and Sasuke looked at him, their eyes widening. “Is that it?” Sakura asked with excitement.

Naruto nodded. “It is. I don't know how to file a mission report though, my squad leader always did it without us.”

“We'll help you Naruto, won't we Sasuke?”

Sasuke shrugged. Naruto smiled, appreciating what they were doing for him. Sasuke got an idea. He wanted to test Naruto a little bit.

“Alright, I'll lead. Let's go.” He said.

Naruto and Sakura nodded and followed him as he took to the trees. Naruto knew where to go of course as he knew that he had to make the report to Lady Tsunade. When Sasuke turned to lead them down one of the more dangerous paths in the trees Naruto began to wonder.

“Uhm.. Sasuke?”

“Yeah?”

“Isn't that path more dangerous and longer than if we go this way?”

Sasuke smirked. “Why, yes it is. Thank you Naruto.”

This happened a few more times along the trip, making Naruto wonder if Sasuke should really be leading. When they finally got outside the Hokage building Sasuke turned and smiled to Naruto

Naruto was surprised, he knew that Sasuke never showed any emotion, even though he had never met him before now, and even Sakura was looking surprised. “Congratulations. You pass.”

“Pass what?” Naruto asked.

“My little test. I wanted to make sure that you weren't one of those people that just blindly listened to what someone told them to do.”

“Oh. Why is that?

“Because those people bother me more than weaklings.”

Naruto didn't like the implication that Sasuke made when he said that, but stayed quiet. They walked into the Hokage's building and went to her office. They knocked on the door, waiting for permission to enter.

“Enter” They heard and so they all walked in. “Ahh. It's you three. What can I do to be of assistance?”

Sakura and Sasuke looked at Naruto, who gulped. “I came to report that my previous mission was a success Lady Tsunade.” Naruto stated, not sounding nervous at all.

Tsunade looked up in surprise. “Really?”

Naruto then pulled out the scroll and placed it on her desk. Tsunade looked at it for a few moments in surprise

“Good work Naruto. It's nice to see that we can put a good memory on their last mission.” Tsunade replied quietly.

Naruto nodded. He knew that it hurt Tsunade as much as it hurt him because one of her friends had been the squad's leader. He saw her nod, meaning he could go and left with Sasuke and Sakura close behind.
Hey everyone. I've told a few people about this but for everyone I haven't told, this is my dream story as I call it. I've put more details at the beginning so I'm sure people already know all the details so I won't bore you. Anyway, I hope you like it. ^_^ Comment?
