Eevee of Darkness

Chapter 1: Can I play?

A small group of eevees were playing together in a small field. All of these eevees had been captured already by trainers that were close friends. One of these eevees in particular was a very popular male. All of the other eevees adored him for his looks. That was what attracted someone to him, and then his personality made people want to stay. He was a kind Pokemon that never treated anyone any differently then he himself wanted to be treated. If someone wanted to be his friend it was very hard not to end up as his friend.

This eevee happened to mirror his owner completely. All of the other eevees' owners adored him as well. Kai, his owner, had always taught him to play nicely and that he would be treated nicely in return. His eevee, Dark,  always listened to his master.

"Dark! Come play with us!!" One of the female eevees of the group called to him.

Dark turned toward the sound. "Alright! I'm coming!!" He then ran off to play with his friends. Unknown to Dark and his friends, a young wild eevee female was listening to them playing. She didn't realize that these eevees weren't wild like her and she wanted to play as well. She didn't have any friends, and she hadn't actually ever seen another wild eevee, or any kind of eevee actually.
She crept up to the field where the eevees were playing. "Hi. Can I play too?" She asked the eevees when she came in plain sight of the other eevees.

Dark turned to the newcomer and was about to agree when he was interrupted. "No! Wild eevees can't play with tame eevees like us! It would give us a bad reputation!" The leader of the female eevees cooed. Her name was Snow. Many called her the snow princess of the eevees and almost all the eevees either wanted to be her.... or be with her.
 
Dark was the one exception. In his mind, her name suited her alright. Just like her namesake.... her heart was as cold as ice. The wild eevee looked down sadly, her ears drooping. She turned around, walking back to the forest with her head and tail down, mumbling a soft 'Sorry to bother you.' Dark sighed deeply, glaring at the eevees before doing something that they'd have never guessed he'd do before. He ran up to the other eevee.
 
"Hey! Hey, wait up! I'll play with you!" He called, beaming at the young eevee female who turned back to look at him in sheer shock.
 
She blinked up at him. "You.. You mean it?" She whispered. Dark beamed as he caught up to her.
 
"Of course I do. I don't say something and then take it back.. It's not in my nature." He wagged his tail a bit happily and the little eevee couldn't help but wag her tail happily too. The two of them ran into the forest, not wanting to play around those jerks that had decided not to play with her just because she wasn't a tame eevee.

 After they had gone a fair distance in the young eevee took Dark to where she played. It was a beautiful little field surrounded by trees. The grass there grew beautifully and Dark had never seen something like it before. It was absolutely gorgeous! "Wow!" Dark said after a moment, looking around. "Do you live here?" He asked her then.

"Yeah actually... I'm the only one that ever really comes here so I kind of took it as my own." Dark smiled as he sat down gently.

"It's a beautiful place... thank you for sharing it with me.. even if it's only to play." The young female blinked. She'd never heard another Pokemon thank her or speak to her kindly. It was..... nice.. she admitted as she smiled softly and sat down beside him.

"It's not a problem." She said softly. "What would you like to play?" Dark thought about it for a moment.

"How about Tag? There's lots of room to run here... it should be fun." The eevee tilted her head then.

"Tag? How do you play?" She asked then, confused. Dark blinked, looking at her.

"You've never played before?" She shook her head gently to say she hadn't. "Well.. it's easy." He smiled brightly then. "If you're hit, you try and tag the other person so that they're it.... and if they're it, you run away as fast as possible so that you don't get it." He explained. She blinked before nodding.

"That sounds simple enough... who's it first?"

Dark smirked playfully as he stood up. "That's an easy one." He then gently tapped her shoulder before running off. "Tag! You're it!" He cried, laughing as he ran. The girl blinked in surprise before she began laughing and chased after him. They played for hours and hours, tag, hide and seek.. and any other game they could think of. The time just raced by and soon they were exhausted.

They lied down in the grass then, resting as Dark turned to her. "Hey... I just realized that I don't know what your name is.... my name's Dark... how about you?" He asked, tilting his head. His master, Kai, always told him that you should introduce yourself first before asking another's name... that it was just polite.

The eevee blinked at him before smiling. "I'm Luna." Dark smiled happily.

"Luna... that's a really pretty name." He said as he gently put his tail on hers. Luna blinked before she smiled and relaxed, putting her head down.

Just then Luna's ears twitched up as she heard something. "Daark! Dark where are you!?" Dark was asleep at the moment and didn't hear the cries. She listened. It sounded like a male... but not a Pokemon..... it sounded like a human male. She carefully pulled away from Dark, not wanting to wake him, as she looked around. "Daaark! Come out buddy!"

She found the human that was yelling and looked at him curiously. He was about average height with shoulder length brown hair and the most beautiful blueish aquamarine eyes... it was hard to tell their exact colour. "Dark! where are you??!" He called out again, starting to get disheartened. She could see that he was sad and guessed that he missed Dark and that Dark was his Pokemon.... she knew she'd miss Dark too but... this human would miss him more.

She gathered her courage and walked out into plain sight of the human. She yipped softly to get his attention. The human blinked. "Huh? Hello little one..... do you know where my Dark is?" he asked, knowing that this was a female eevee. She yipped softly again, nodding gently before she turned around and walked away a bit, stopping and turning towards him in an obvious 'I'll lead you to him.... you coming?'

The human blinked before he smiled softly and followed her. Soon they came to the clearing where Dark lay, still asleep. "oh.. there he is... must be exhausted from playing... where you the one that tired him out?" He asked, chuckling softly at the young eevee. She smiled up at him and nodded. The human knelt down. "Well... my name is Kai... I thank you for taking care of Dark for me... I'll try and bring him around here again so that you two can play some more.. you seem to have enjoyed his company."

Luna blinked before she nodded gently. Kai straightened up then and walked over to Dark, shaking him gently. "Wake up man... it's time to go." He knew Dark would probably want to say goodbye to the little eevee. Dark shifted, looking up before yipping happily at seeing his master. His ear twitched at what he said before he jumped up and ran over to Luna.

He nuzzled against her nose gently. "I gotta go Luna.. sorry... I'll try and come back and play again though ok? I had a lot of fun... more fun than with those other eevees." Luna smiled, nodding.

"Ok... I'll be waiting for you." She smiled. Kai watched as Dark licked her cheek gently and ran back to him, saying he was ready to go.

"Alright my big man.. let's get going." He said with a smile. They left the clearing then, Luna smiling after them. She'd made a friend.. and she was happy now.
